Some of my favorite paintings

I visited the Museum of Modern art in New York recently and of course was glad to see my favorite painting, Van Gogh's Starry Night. I recently did a comic-related to that. The painting is now behind glass and framed, I don't remember it being framed before, it might have been, but a few years ago, it wasn't behind glass, you could almost smell the paint without the glass covering it.

Here's my tribute to Starry Night, called "Starry Coffee.
Another favorite is Andy Warhol, I think I've read almost every book on Warhol including his diaries. These are the famous soup cans.

This Picasso, "The Young Ladies of Avignon," always reminds me of my college days. Way back then, I had a project where I was to recreate this painting using cuttings from magazines as the colors. My art was about 4" x 4" and I recreated it from an image in a book. The first time I saw the original painting years later, it was startling to see how large it really is.

The Dance (La Danse) by Henri Matisse has always been a favorite and whenever I see it, it reminds of an exhibit in Key West a few years ago, where famous paintings were made into large sculptures.
