A comic that I have liked for a long time and am now back into is "Wondermark" by David Malki !, the exclamation mark is part of his name. Wondermark is a lot like Kate Beaton's "Hark, A Vagrant," in that they both deal with period pieces, but in Wondermark, David uses real 19th century woodcuts from old books and magazines, and he makes up the dialogue to fit the images he scans. Kate draws her comics based on old photos and woodcuts. As you read Wondermark, you feel as if you're reading something that is old or you get an old-fashioned feel from it by seeing the images and period phrases and then the characters bring up something like Facebook or Yelp and it's so unexpected that it's hilarious. Here are a couple of the latest Wondermark comics, if you click on them, they'll open larger. To see them all and to get old feel of the website, go to Wondermark.com.
