Amazon purchases Comixology; big comics news
"There is no better home for Comixology than Amazon to see this vision through," David Steinberger, CEO of Comixology says in the announcement. "Working together, we look to accelerate a new age for comic books and graphic novels."
The deal has not closed yet and the price being paid was not discussed. But it's a great step up for the comic book industry. This is the future of comic books.
What I see for comic strips and panels is a page or two like in the newspapers, but on websites, like Amazon, you know, rather than where you click through various sites like on Comic Rocket or InkOutBreak, this would have the daily strips/panels posted on one page, so you would go to Amazon or Facebook or any other major site, perhaps Huffington Post, (even Macy's, why not?) and you would click on their comics page link and there would be 20 comics or so, maybe 30, like you see in the daily newspapers. Links could accompany the comics and they could go to the peripheral items sold for that comic from books to t-shirts, etc.
